Fellowship Project: Blog Posting After you watch the video and read the study notes below, answer these questions here: Discuss: o What is Jesus saying to you personally? What is He nudging you to do? 1. According to this study, what are some ways to walk in Luke 10:19
authority?
2. Acts 5:29 states that we should obey God rather than people who are going against His will. Discuss the importance of overcoming fear of people's opinions and circumstances as it relates to immediate obedience.
3. According to 1 Corinthians 14:2, when we pray in the Spirit, we are praying out mysteries. Why is praying in tongues an essential key to cultivating intimacy with the Lord and obeying Him?
4. Discuss 1 Samuel 15:22, which states that obedience is better than sacrifice.
Why is it so essential to understand this revelation?
5. How will the Father know that He can trust you, and what happens when He does?
Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which
He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of
eternal salvation to all who obey Him.
Hebrews 5:8–9
DISCUSSION:
This week we will continue to build on the subject of immediate obedience opening up the floodgates of Heaven. This topic is fascinating because I have seen so many breakthroughs in the last year compared to the past 42 years I have walked with the Lord. The Spirit of the Lord wants me to share the keys to these amazing manifestations He is bringing forth.
We often look for spectacular manifestations when we want God to move in our situation. However, I found out that sometimes we just need to do what we know God wants us to do, such as reaching out to people, loving others, and acts of kindness. When I have a need, God will sometimes tell me to do something that seems unrelated, yet it is the key that unlocks the breakthrough. So let's continue on this journey of discovering how immediate obedience opens the floodgates of Heaven.
OBEY GOD NO MATTER WHAT
If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.
Isaiah 1:19
We can get Heaven's attention through our acts of obedience. I'm finding that we must decide to obey God no matter the circumstance. We have to make that decision, even if we don't know exactly what to do at the time. What I do, and I'm encouraging all of you to do, is continue to feed, provide for, and demonstrate love to those in need. Tell others about the goodness of God. And when God does speak, let your obedience be immediate.
As mentioned in previous studies, Jesus complimented me on my immediate obedience to Him. He said that it was a very rare trait. When God told me to do something, I always dropped what I was doing and obeyed Him, regardless of the opinion of others. Sometimes what He told me to do was unrelated to my prayer requests, but then my answer would come through that act of obedience.
GOD WANTS TO BE INVOLVED IN YOUR LIFE
Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.
Proverbs 3:6 NLT
In the past, I remember talking to different groups of people about how God wanted to be involved in our lives. This was back when I didn't have conferences and worked full-time at Southwest Airlines. I shared with my crew members and passengers that we should include God. When we involve the Lord, it always results in doing things for others.
When I worked for the airline, acts of kindness were uncommon. Sometimes when people would send me to pick up food for my crew, I would pay for it. To them, it was a huge deal because everybody was very frugal with their money, especially because there were so many expenses incurred when working there. I just wanted to bless people, and they knew how much it meant. Everybody understands when you do something that costs you, even if they may wonder why you would do it.
Being kind and blessing others spoke louder than preaching about Jesus and hell. Of course, that is part of the gospel's message, yet they were shocked when someone would do something for them that would cost something. It just would get their attention and shake them.
God taught me that immediate obedience to His promptings was a catalyst that caused breakthrough. It opened the floodgates of Heaven for me. It wouldn't even cost me that much financially. I noticed that the Lord started to influence people to bless me. Kathi and I even had our house paid off. We were completely taken out of debt, and other supernatural provisions came to us.
OBEDIENCE, AUTHORITY, AND LOVE WORK TOGETHER
If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God's secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn't love others, I would be nothing.
1 Corinthians 13:2 NLT
I learned how to walk in authority by allowing God to speak and nudge me to do acts of kindness for different people. I prayed it out; then, when the doors opened, I was immediately obedient. Do you want to walk in authority? Surely, you want to have authority and see demons leave. I'm sure you want to see serpents and scorpions being crushed under your feet, as it talks about in Luke.
Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you.
Luke 10: 19 AMP
What if destroying the works of the devil, trampling on serpents and scorpions, and having power over all the enemy came through acts of kindness or love? Maybe you are supposed to deliver a word, pray or give somebody your food. There have been times when obedience required me to give away my watch or certain belongings which I held dearly; when I did, God moved on my behalf.
But Peter and the other apostles answered and said, "We ought to obey God rather than men.
Acts 5:29
I had to obey God rather than fear what people may think or worry that I would lose something special to me, such as my favorite watch, if He told me to give it away. I remember God telling me to buy people tires for their cars when my own car needed tires. When I would do it, my needs would be released through that act of obedience.
